Youth Mental Health First Aid Workshop (Dec, 2024)

Purple Swans Corporation and Mental Health Association in New Jersey will jointly host a Youth Mental Health First Aid workshop. This workshop is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis.  The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.

Training format: English language, In Person, Instructor-led group discussions, Role playing, Video watching, etc.

Time: 8:30am-4:30pm on December 15 (Sunday), 2024

Location: Summit Community Center (100 Morris Ave, Summit, NJ 07901)

Registration fee:  $10 per person, non-refundable (The original fee for the course is $250. Because of the generous donation from Purple Swans Corporation, the fee is reduced to $10 per person. Breakfast, lunch, and beverages are provided free of charge by Purple Swans Corporation.)

“青少年心理健康援助”课程主要针对与青少年接触的成人（ 如父母，家庭成员，老师，教练等）。通过培训，学员可以了解青少年面临的心理健康挑战，探索青少年青春期发展常态，学习一套颇具实用性的“五步操作方案“，以用于帮助处于心理危机状态和非危机状态下的青少年。课程涵盖的话题包括焦虑、抑郁、药物滥用、容易引发神经疾病的心理障碍、破坏性行为障碍（包括注意缺陷多动障碍AD/HD）和进食障碍等。

培训形式：英文授课，小组讨论，角色扮演，观看录像，练习等

培训时间：2024年12月15日 (周日） 8:30am-4:30pm
